General Description
The Villa Damilla was built as an aristocratic home in the 15th century. It was later bought by an order of monks in the 19th century and extended. The central part has recently been lavishly and carefully renovated and refurbished as a grand Italian villa and is available for rent. It looks over a parterre and a beautiful formal garden, beyond which is a vista of rolling vineyards and olive groves framed by a view of distant mountains. The historic city of Lucca is only a 7 km away, and the village of Segromigno with its shops and supermarket is within walking distance. Very close by is the Villa Torrigiani, a beautifully preserved house with ornate gardens, and there are others within easy driving distance. The villa offers a large pool 16*6 depth 1,40 at guest exclusive disposal The accommodation in Villa Damilla is spacious and luxurious. The most ancient part of this historic house – the original villa - has been sensitively restored to its former glory. It has been completely redesigned and refitted on three floors accessible by lift. At guest disposal are 11 bedrooms and suites with comfortable sofa beds (including sofa beds sleeps totally 33 people) and 15 bathrooms (10 features both bath and shower). The villa is an extremely luxury and comfortable accommodation for even to the most demanding guest: Including i.e. Satellite tv and wireless internet in each bedroom and air conditioning . On the ground floor there is a beautiful and spacious ‘salone’ or living room with chairs, sofas and coffee tables in a traditional Italian style. It is furnished with satellite TV and games, and there is a door to a study with a computer and internet access. Adjoining the ’salone’ is a large, cool dining room, with a table large enough to accommodate up to 30 guests. Also on the ground floor is a magnificent modern kitchen – large, well-furnished and equipped to a standard which would satisfy the most exacting cook, whether she/he wanted to prepare a grand dinner, or demonstrate the art of Italian cuisine to guests. Next to the kitchen is a laundry room, fully equipped with washing machine, dryer, iron etc. Both the ‘salone’ and the kitchen open onto the parterre, which is furnished with shaded tables where guests can barbecue their lunch, or just eat, sip wine and enjoy the view. Above the ‘salone’ elevator leads to the first floor and second floor with suites and bedrooms. Each of the 5 suites provides sleeping accommodation for up to four people with king-size and single beds, arranged on two levels, with an en-suite bath/shower room on each level and ample luggage and wardrobe space. Each suite is elegantly furnished and decorated with individually hand-painted ceilings. In the grounds, the original ‘limonara’ – the equivalent of an orangery – has been transformed into a suite of seminar rooms, fully equipped and suitable for courses, lectures and educational or conference groups and especially for Weddings. The entire grounds are secure, with walls and an electronically operated gate. They include ample parking space. Beyond the formal garden with its fountain and statues of the seasons is a large swimming pool with chairs and umbrellas, bordered by lawn walkways and a rose colonnade which in summer scents the air. Owner, just a very friendly couple ( doctors so outside all the day )and the maid is living on place in a wing of the villa with a separate entrance.
